Our Town: Art Therapist Lets the Colors Choose Her

After working as secretary in a laboratory with doctors and scientists including a chemist and 1960 Nobel Prize Laureate Will Libby, Joan Percy went to school to get her bachelors and then eventually masters degree in Art from California State University.  Since then she has worked at a Holistic Art Center where she taught yoga, art and clay therapy on the west coast and moved back east to teach art therapy at both the Carter School, a Boston Public School where she works with neurologically impaired students and at the Westwood Senior Center.  “I try to encourage my students to look at the colors and let the colors choose them,” said Percy.
