Healthy Eating and Regular Exercise can Reduce Obesity Among Seniors

The Washington University of St. Louis conducted a study to explore the effects of diet and exercise on the aging population. Their inquiries were prompted by recent news of the growing obesity epidemic that has become a health issue for older adults throughout the country. The study found that overweight seniors who chose a healthy diet as well as regular exercise had physical function and mobility improve by over 20 percent. This was a significantly greater improvement than those who focused on either diet or exercise. Researchers hope that their findings will encourage seniors to adapt to a more active and healthy lifestyle to combat the dangers of obesity.
