On Giving Tuesday, give The Gift of Creativity and support NCCA!

Gift to NCCA

“There is no denying the problems that accompany aging.
But what has been universally denied is the potential.
The ultimate expression of potential is creativity.”
— Dr. Gene Cohen

There is a new day on the holiday calendar – today, November 27, 2012, is Giving Tuesday!  And as you reflect upon the challenges and blessings of the past year, NCCA is asking that this year you join our first annual The Gift of Creativity campaign and honor the lives of your loved ones.  This year, when you send in your Tax-Deductible Contribution to NCCA, we ask that you send it in memory of your loved ones by Sharing Your Story with us about their lives, their creativity, and their inspiration.  Each of the stories that we receive will, with your permission, be featured upon our website where they can inspire the older adults and professionals in the arts and aging fields who visit our website every day!

Your support of NCCA makes you part of a national movement changing the paradigm of aging from one of loss to one of potential.  The arts have inspired many older adults over the past year, as exemplified by NCCA’s Beautiful Minds who use creative engagement to ensure that their brains remain strong, healthy, and beautiful as they age. Gregg Rochester, a 62 year old psychologist turned professional painter based in Wisconsin, is active in the health sector where he brings his art into hospitals and health clinics either as decoration or as inspiration in art programs.  When his brother-in-law was stricken with aggressive leukemia, Gregg introduced him to the healing power of art through art lessons – an invaluable gift of creativity that changed his brother-in-law’s perspective from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can and am.’

During this holiday season of reflection and giving, we at NCCA ask for your continued support of Dr. Cohen’s vision for later life as The Creative Age.  Your tax-deductible donation will have a direct impact upon our capacity to reach and support teaching artists, arts organizations, and aging services to provide key professional development and technical assistance services.  Contributions can be made online via credit card at www.creativeaging.org/who-we-are/support-us and checks can be mailed to 4125 Albemarle Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016.  Your stories can be submitted online at www.creativeaging.org/share-your-story or you can contact us at (202) 895-9456 to set up an interview.

We here at NCCA are so very grateful to you for all of your support throughout the past year.  And to express our appreciation, we have a special Gift of Creativity planned for you!  More details will be coming your way in mid-December.

This year, give the gift of creativity and support NCCA!  You can reach Alecia Torres de Valdez at (202) 895-9456 or at atorres@creativeaging.org with any questions about The Gift of Creativity campaign at NCCA.
