Beautiful Minds
Thank you for voting in the 2011 Beautiful Minds campaign. Online voting has closed. Please visit www.beautiful-minds.com in September to see if your favorite Beautiful Mind has been voted the People's Choice winner!
For a second year, the National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) is partnering with life'sDHA™, a sustainable and vegetarian source of algal DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) important for brain, heart and eye health throughout life, to help shine a light on people who are keeping their minds beautiful, and raise awareness of the actions people can take to maintain the most important organ in the body—the brain.
Most people assume that brain health is genetically determined. But the truth is that we have the power to influence our brain health throughout life. In fact, there are simple actions that you can take today to ensure that your brain remains strong, healthy, and beautiful as you age.
As part of the initial Beautiful Minds campaign in 2010, the National Center for Creative Aging and life'sDHA™ identified people 55 and over and featured them in a national photo essay exhibit showcasing women and men who are fulfilling the four dimensions of brain health: diet and nutrition, physical health, mental health and social wellbeing. These individuals are using their minds to do beautiful things without letting age be a barrier.
NCCA and life'sDHA™ are seeking a new set of candidates to be featured in the 2011 national photo essay exhibit. The photo essay exhibit will travel to multiple cities as part of this educational campaign to inspire all Americans to follow suit in maintaining their brain health. Beautiful Minds candidates who are selected will also receive $500 to be given to the nonprofit charity of their choice plus a prize package valued at $500.
The Beautiful Minds campaign was initiated through a partnership between the National Center for Creative Aging, life'sDHA™ and a group of esteemed health experts. Together, they developed Beautiful Minds: An Assessment of the Nation’s Brain Health [PDF], which includes the latest brain health research.
Through the four dimensions of brain health, we have the power to influence our brain health throughout life, and ensure that our brains remain strong, healthy and beautiful as we age.
